Fireflies in partnership with Culture Co-op

We create unique opportunities for both adults and young people to experience the art of fire spinning in the heart of Rochdale

With support from Rochdale’s Culture Co-op, Skylight has been developing Fireflies, our project that gives local people opportunity to learn fire spinning.

From one off tasters & monthly fire jams to long-term blocks of sessions creating fire performance!

Fire Jam

Our Fire Jams for adults with some experience to keep the flame alive, develop their skills in a safe, supported and inclusive space.

Fireflies – Ignite

In the autumn period we’ve partnered with the incredible Travelling Light Circus who delivered an 8 week programme of fire torch training, developing choreography and trained a group of local adults to perform at Ignite Fire Festival in 2024 and 2025.

Youth Circus – Spotlight

Our Youth Performing Troupe have also developed their fire spinning skills, performing at Ignite Fire Festival for a number of years. 

Safety & Fire

All Fireflies sessions are led by experienced fire practitioners, with clear safety guidance, risk assessments and appropriate supervision at the heart of everything we do. We do not advice trying fire spinning without receiving professional training beforehand.

Book a Group Workshop

We offer Group Fire Spinning Taster Sessions for both adults and youth groups looking for a new, exciting activity.  Our team wellbeing fire sessions are a unique way bring energy back to a group.

We provide a safe, supported introduction to fire practice that develops focus, confidence and self-belief through movement and circus skills.

Sessions are suitable for complete beginners; community groups, youth organisations and staff teams and can be delivered as one-off tasters or as part of a longer creative project in Rochdale and surrounding areas.
